About the role
We are looking for a Site Leader to join our team at the Greater Philadelphia YMCA. This full-time, hourly position focuses on positively impacting the community by helping young adults increase independence through community-based activities, job skill exploration, and healthy living experiences.
Pay range: $21.16–$22.60 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Read and be accountable for YMCA Policies, State Licensing Body (PA-DHS) regulations, and Quality Rating System standards, including knowing and articulating the YMCA mission.
- Develop and manage the overall strategy for delivering Before and After School Child Care programs; ensure staff excellence in high-quality and safe program delivery.
- Direct and maintain environments that build children’s self-esteem using positive reinforcement techniques for behavior management.
- Supervise children by adhering to small group/ratio requirements and accurately maintaining attendance.
- Communicate effectively and timely with parents/guardians regarding children’s program experience and progress (written and verbal), maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Provide quality adult/child interactions through engagement, positive feedback, and open-ended questions while maintaining age-appropriate verbal interaction guidelines.
- Ensure centers are maintained with quality learning materials, organized in labeled containers associated with appropriate Learning Centers.
- Attend team-planning meetings monthly or as needed.
- Complete and renew all necessary training as reflected in your training plan, including 6 hours of childcare-related training annually.
- Conduct and record weekly child observations, including those related to behavior concerns or development requiring early intervention.
- Coordinate, plan, and implement daily child-centered and developmentally appropriate learning experiences within YMCA, state licensing, and quality rating system guidelines.
- Ensure staff and child records are maintained in accordance with state licensing regulations, protecting confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate records of daily attendance, mobile emergency contact binders, trip binders, and allergy reports.
- Lead by example with professionalism and accountability, ensuring the well-being and safety of children and staff.
- Supervise all staff assigned to the site, manage schedules, record time worked, and arrange coverage to meet required ratios.
- Support the District Team Leader in other areas to provide quality program implementation and exemplify the YMCA’s mission.
- Prepare and distribute quality, brand-compliant written communication with parents/guardians (e.g., Family Board maintenance, monthly newsletters, program updates).
- Meet deadlines for monthly lesson plans, weekly and specialized reports, and supply requests; plan and manage time and resources effectively.
Requirements
- Present documentation of an achieved degree from an accredited college or university in education or a human services-related field as defined by state licensing regulations.
- Verify a minimum of 2 years (2,500 hours) of childcare experience.
