Site Construction Intern

Description Gulf Stream Construction Company is looking for motivated, driven individuals to join our team for a summer internship supporting operations and growth across our Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA locations. This internship offers hands-on immersion in the estimating and project management side of the construction industry — ideal for engineering students who want real-world experience before entering the workforce. You'll work directly alongside experienced estimators, project managers, and superintendents on active projects, gaining exposure you won't get in a classroom. Requirements What You'll Do Support project pursuits through the pre-construction and proposal phasesReview construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings to determine scope of work and deliverablesPerform quantity takeoffs using both conventional methods (scaling, counting) and estimating softwareAssist with building cost estimates as assignedHelp plan and implement earthwork models using 3D modeling softwareParticipate in project planning meetings and progress reviewsBuild strong working relationships with project teams, Superintendents, and Project ManagersProvide day-to-day project management support to Superintendents and Project ManagersHelp track and manage project submittals through review and approvalAssist in preparing monthly payment applicationsTake on additional responsibilities as assigned, with room to grow based on interest and initiativeFollow all office and jobsite safety policies and procedures What We're Looking For Actively enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Construction Science and ManagementJunior standing or higherAvailable to work full-time, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the internshipA driven, entrepreneurial mindset with a genuine interest in the construction industryStrong attention to detailSolid problem-solving and communication skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Why Gulf Stream Construction?
