About the role
Woolpert is hiring a Civil Engineering Team Leader to join our dynamic Land Development team. This position reports to the Civil Engineering Discipline Leader and will lead the planning and scheduling of key resources on Land Development design projects to deliver flawlessly executed projects to our clients. Responsibilities include directing plan production and technical staff, reviewing design calculations, promoting team growth, and assisting with a variety of site/civil land development engineering projects supporting private market stakeholders.
Reporting staff include design engineers, single-discipline project managers, and CAD technicians. The Civil Engineering Team Leader performs goal setting for the team, conducts performance reviews, and works with the discipline leader on personnel changes, including interviews and hiring of technical team members. This role also includes a technical component, such as planning, design, budgeting, and project scheduling.

Responsibilities
- Establishes employee performance goals, provides regular feedback, and works with discipline leaders and assigned technical team members to achieve individual and sector goals.
- Effectively resolves conflict within the team by initiating and facilitating communication.
- Mentors and coaches direct reports.
- Clarifies performance expectations of phase and/or task deliverables.
- Directs and delegates execution of quality project deliverables to and among technical team members.
- Communicates issues affecting phase/task or project schedule, budget, or quality and escalates unresolved issues to the project manager and/or discipline leader.
- Identifies plan vs. actual performance variances.
- Provides monthly reporting of resource planning, percent completes, budget dollar variance, and market communications.
Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- 10 or more years of professional experience preferred.
- PE License required.
- Previous people management experience that includes goal setting, performance reviews, conflict resolution, and a desire to lead is preferred.
- Ability to make sound decisions/recommendations based on the evaluation and synthesis of project information and data.
- Strong organizational skills to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Comfortable taking initiative to interact with others while committed to team efforts.
- Strong sense of personal responsibility for deadlines and work product.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and skilled at working online and with databases (Microsoft Excel).
- Strong Civil 3D experience.

Pay
Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay Range: $118,200 - $147,800 USD.
