Site Civil Designer

Duties & Responsibilities

• Produce new site civil drawings — including site layout, grading, drainage, and erosion control plans — from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervision.
• Research information in catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, local regulations, and other reference materials applicable to land development and site civil design.
• Perform basic calculations related to earthwork volumes, drainage areas, grading slopes, and stormwater runoff.
• Learn and properly use the Dashiell document management system.
• Learn and apply corporate standard drafting and design practices for land development and site civil work.
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
• Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• Associate’s Degree in Drafting & Design, Civil Technology, or related field is required; equivalent professional experience of 2 or more years may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Drafting experience with a background in land development, site civil, or related civil design disciplines is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required.
• Knowledge of site civil drafting including grading, drainage, erosion and sediment control, and utility layout.
• Mastery of mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometry.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
• Basic oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license required; must maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
