Site Buyer II
About the role
The Site Buyer II provides operational and tactical purchasing functions for the Strategic Sourcing and Procurement (SS&P) department at manufacturing site locations. Responsibilities include facilitating timely purchase of supplies and services for all areas of operations, driving process improvements and efficiencies in procurement, and serving as a primary contact between the site team and the supplier base.
Responsibilities
- Lead and foster our “people first” culture.
- Lead quarterly training seminars for purchasing best practices for Fernley site.
- Evaluates suppliers, consolidates orders, and negotiates prices and terms.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvement; collaborates with site team to implement solutions to improve efficiency.
- Assists other departments with problem resolution involving discrepancies between purchase order, delivered quantity, quality and/or price.
- Maintains site purchase card and prepares monthly purchase card package for approval.
- Serves as a primary contact between the site team and the supplier base to expedite orders efficiently.
- Prepares month end reports as required.
- Researches potential vendors and products to identify cost-effective solutions.
- Minimizes risk to continuity of supply by carrying out supplier risk assessments for the suppliers and implementing corrective actions as required with indirect buyers.
- Conducts searches for new suppliers of goods and services, evaluates their capabilities, assesses risk, and qualifies as necessary.
Requirements
- We are looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree and 2 - 4+ years relevant experience with OR 8+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Thorough knowledge of purchasing practices, principles, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize demands from internal customers, some of which may be offsite; ability to effectively collaborate with different operational groups within a manufacturing site and at a corporate level.
- Familiarity and comfortability using ERP systems and software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

- Experience with JD Edwards (JDE).

Pay
Base Salary Range: $22.00 - $33.00 per hour. Additional compensation includes an annual/sales bonus.
