Simulation Software Engineer

About the role

Metis Technology Solutions, Inc. is the prime contractor for NASA Langley’s Simulation and Aircraft Service Task Order under the ARTS contract in Hampton, Virginia. We are seeking a software engineer experienced in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and development to support high fidelity, man-in-the-loop, real-time synchronous aircraft and spacecraft simulations.

Responsibilities

• Support high fidelity, man-in-the-loop, real-time synchronous aircraft and spacecraft simulations projects.
• Provide full life cycle flight simulation software and hardware services and flight simulation infrastructure engineering services for LaRC ground-based and flight research systems and facilities.
• Engage in hardware services such as engineering, operations, and maintenance of the simulation hardware and software infrastructure.
• Contribute to infrastructure engineering services including modification of existing infrastructure, design and implementation of new infrastructure, and support for simulation operations and maintenance activities.
• Work within the Flight Simulation Facilities (FSF), which includes computing systems like the Real-Time Computer Systems, a six-degree-of-freedom motion base, four full-sized simulator cockpits, and a multi-purpose re-configurable test and evaluation simulator.
• Collaborate with Systems Integration and Laboratories within the FSF.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, mathematics, aerospace, or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university is required.
• Experience in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and development to support high fidelity, man-in-the-loop, real-time synchronous aircraft and spacecraft simulations is sought.
• Experience with Rational Rose, Jira, Agile software development, C++ development under Windows, visual database development and modification, OpenGL, OpenFlight, or GTK 3.0 would be highly beneficial.
