Simulation Software Engineer

Lanteris Space LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Intuitive Machines, is currently seeking an entry-level Software Development Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA, or a US remote location. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing software for spacecraft simulators that are used by internal and external customers. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to begin their career in the space industry working on cutting-edge simulation technology. Intuitive Machines is a leading space infrastructure company that builds spacecraft, connects networks, and operates infrastructure-as-a-service for commercial, civil, and national security customers. Responsibilities Design and implement models of spacecraft components and/or subsystems for all-software spacecraft simulatorsLearn and apply spacecraft hardware specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and technical documentation to develop accurate software modelsAdhere to current satellite and software industry best practicesDeploy code through existing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelinesCollaborate with team members to find solutions to design and evaluate technical trade-offsCommunicate cross-functionally with software and systems engineers to ensure a coherent system designWrite and perform unit, integration, and system-level tests on software applicationsParticipate in customer-facing design reviews and other technical discussions Minimum Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent residentBS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines, or degree received within 3 months of hire date Proficiency with Linux or demonstrated ability to learn quicklyFamiliarity with software compilers and other software development toolsExperience (academic or professional) in the following:Developing software in C++ or PythonDebugging and troubleshooting software systemsSoftware development best practicesVersion control systems (Git) Preferred Qualifications Strong applied mathematics skills, including numerical methods, linear algebra, differential equations, and/or computational physicsExperience implementing mathematical algorithms in software (coursework projects, research, or professional work)Academic projects involving simulation, modeling, or real-time systemsRelevant internship or co-op experience in software development, aerospace, or simulationCoursework or project experience with object-oriented programming and software design patternsBasic understanding of TCP/IP networking conceptsExposure to Agile methodologies or modern software development practicesFamiliarity with automated testing frameworksStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to learn quickly and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced work environmentPassion to work on space applicationsInterest in spacecraft systems, operations, design, or testingStrong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment What We Offer Mentorship from experienced engineers in spacecraft simulation and systems engineeringHands-on experience with real spacecraft hardware and flight softwareOpportunity to work on projects that directly support space missionsProfessional development and growth opportunities in the aerospace industry In support of pay transparency at Lanteris Space Systems, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings. The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range. The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.The base pay for this position within New Jersey is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.The base pay for this position within Delaware is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.The base pay for this position within California is: $77,000.00 - $128,000.00 annually. For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
