About the Role

The Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences at UCCS is seeking a Simulation Senior Professional to independently prepare, manage, operate, and maintain all equipment needed for simulation learning in the college's Simulation Learning Center (SLC). This role focuses on advanced operation of high-fidelity computerized human simulators and serves as a knowledgeable resource within the SLC administrative team. This is a part-time position (19 hours per week) and is not eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities

• Problem Solving:
  • Troubleshoot and maintain highly technical computerized simulators, assessing solutions based on professional knowledge and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Identify, examine, and repair problems with clinical equipment or report issues as appropriate.
  • Analyze software, hardware, and peripherals for conflicts or failures in high-fidelity simulation, providing professional insight into root causes and solutions.
• Simulation Preparation:
  • Ensure the SLC is prepared to execute simulation scenarios for learners ranging from undergraduate to doctoral-level students.
  • Perform advanced-level programming of high-fidelity simulations to maintain medical realism.
  • Stage supplies for events, including installing fluids in simulators and determining appropriate moulage and props to enhance realism.
• Equipment & Supplies:
  • Track and schedule periodic maintenance and repairs for task trainers, simulators, and other equipment, performing in-house tasks as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of specialized equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the SLC administrative team to track supply needs and order materials for upcoming simulations.
• Simulation Daily Operations:
  • Operate high-fidelity simulators at an advanced level and train others in their use.
  • Identify operational issues during simulation days and provide guidance to the SLC team for mitigation.
  • Manage, oversee, and support Student Simulation Technicians during simulation days.
  • Participate in orienting students and faculty to the SLC.
  • Occasionally act as a patient, family member, or care provider in scenarios.
  • Determine appropriate storage and maintenance options, ensuring supplies and equipment are dismantled, stored, and cleaned after events.
• Personal Growth:
  • Maintain a continual learner mindset and stay current with developments in Simulation Technology.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, meetings, and committee work as a professional member of the College.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to educational technology or equivalent professional experience operating human patient simulators.
• Prior experience as a simulationist or simulation technician.
• Prior work experience in the field of health care is preferred.

Pay

$25,086.53 - $32,369 annually at 0.49 FTE (19 hours per week). Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
