Job Description

MOSIMTEC uses simulation modeling to help our clients understand the best ways to solve their most complex challenges. This role involves working on exciting projects across various domains including material handling, mining, chemical processing, manufacturing, supply chains, maritime and port operations, and healthcare.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop simulation models and conduct analysis to generate recommendations.
  • Use off-the-shelf tools such as SIMIO, AnyLogic, Arena, FlexSim, Simul8, PlantSim, and Demo3d to assist in these tasks.
  • Conduct and/or participate in simulation specification activities and documentation, including describing system behavior, clarifying scope, and driving clients to understand appropriate assumptions, input parameters, and output metrics.
  • Design and develop decision support tools to aid in statistically valid decision-making, which may involve using Excel, VBA, Python, Tableau, or other tools.
  • Assist or lead data transformation/ETL efforts to prepare data for model use, either for one-time analysis questions or ongoing operational models.

Required Skills / Characteristics

  • A high degree of intellectual curiosity.
  • A strong desire to help others, particularly clients.
  • Experience constructing DES, AB, SD, or Monte Carlo models for process analysis.
  • A solid understanding of the science of Modeling and Simulation.
  • A comprehension of statistics, data analytics, and design of experiments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, time management, and risk management skills.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.
  • Introductory programming skills in Java, Python, vb.Net, C#, or similar.
  • One to two years of work experience in simulation or designing/improving processes that MOSIMTEC models.
  • Co-op experience, internships, etc., apply towards the work experience requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Real-world modeling and simulation development in one or more leading general application simulation software (e.g. Simio, AnyLogic, FlexSim, ExtendSim, Simul8, Arena, etc.).
  • A Master’s degree.
  • Management or engineering consulting experience or internship.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Programming experience in Java, Python, vb.Net, C#, or similar.
  • One to two years full-time working experience in industries serviced by MOSIMTEC (manufacturing, quick service restaurants, mining, pharmaceutical, healthcare, distribution, etc.), or functional experience related to problems MOSIMTEC solves (enterprise resource planning, manufacturing execution systems, control logic, distribution center automation, labor analysis, ROI of capital investment, supply chain network design, etc.).
