Simulated Participants
About the role
The Simulated Participant (SP) Program at Yale School of Medicine provides learners with a safe and effective space to engage in realistic simulated encounters with trained health care educators. Our SPs are trained extensively to portray their characters to fulfill specific learning objectives.
Responsibilities
- Bring a consistent, measurable portrayal of their character in standardized sessions.
- Respond in an improvisational manner while remaining in character during simulated work.
- Portray a wide variety of roles including patient, parent, and clinician.
- Offer a safe, supportive, and controlled learning environment for trainees to grow in their clinical abilities.
Requirements
To become an SP, we are interested in hiring individuals with acting, SP, or healthcare educator experience. Send us your resume detailing your relevant experience, why you are interested in becoming an SP, and headshot or current photo via email.

Our SPs are trained to portray their characters consistently and accurately, ensuring each trainee receives the same experience. They are committed to excellence and represent a diverse population to engage with the wide range of people in practice.
