Silverland Middle Computers Teacher 2026/27

Range: $50,761–$92,279 annually with employer-paid retirement, dependent upon previous experience. 9-month term (185/189 days), exempt/salaried position.

About the Role

The teacher will implement daily student instruction aligned with the Nevada Academic Content State Standards and Lyon County School District approved curriculum. The role involves creating and maintaining an educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and district programs and goals. Adherence to LCSD Professional Standards for Licensed Employees is required.

Responsibilities

• Administer district curriculum aligned with Nevada State Standards and/or Common Core State Standards.
• Ensure all students learn in a respectful environment.
• Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused classroom.
• Develop and implement effective lessons using the LCSD lesson plan template.
• Analyze student progress and provide individualized instruction and feedback.
• Ensure compliance with special services such as IEPs and other mandates.
• Provide classroom management and discipline to ensure safety.
• Actively contribute to the School Performance Plan (SPP) process.
• Comply with assessment regulations and guidelines.
• Develop a classroom climate that promotes positive learning conditions.
• Handle stress and interact professionally with administration, staff, parents, and the community.
• Integrate technology into instructional programs, curriculum, and lessons.
• Maintain accurate and timely records in the student software system (e.g., Infinite Campus).
• Demonstrate knowledge and ability to provide instruction in an elementary classroom.
• Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum and student goals.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques aligned with objectives to meet student needs.
• Participate as a collaborative member of the faculty and staff.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
• Improve professional competence through continued education and in-service training.
• Communicate professionally in written, oral, and non-verbal terms.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator.
• Regular and consistent punctuality and attendance are essential.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education, certified in the relevant subject area.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Strength, dexterity, coordination, and vision to use a keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
• Strength and stamina to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods.
• Dexterity and coordination to handle files, paper, and occasional lifting of materials (e.g., files, reports, student work).
• Reaching for items above and below waist and head level; bending, squatting, and stooping to access files and materials.
• Manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate educational technology (e.g., LCD projector, SmartBoard, iPads/Tablets).
• Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
• Light lifting (up to 25 pounds) may occasionally be required.

Working Conditions

• Climate-controlled classroom settings to outdoor weather with temperatures ranging from mild to extreme.
• Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud on occasional to frequent time periods.
• Work in crowded environments.
• Potential exposure to classroom furniture, playground/office equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals, and power/hand-operated machinery.
