Silicone Extrusion Operator

Position Summary

A Silicone Extrusion operator utilizes the machinery in the Silicone Department in order to fulfill daily production requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Determines production requirements based on the daily schedule.
• Trained on all machine safety, set-up, shut-down, and operating procedures in the platinum and peroxide extrusion rooms.
• Develops the ability to measure silicone tubing and hose, including I.D., O.D., and wall thickness.
• Trained to properly measure using rulers, tape measures, dial calipers, wall thickness and pin gages, and ultrasonic thickness gages for wall thickness measurements.
• Mixes 50-60 lbs. of silicone rubber on a two-roll cabinet mill.
• Comfortable on ladders for stringing the line at startup.
• Uses FIFO when using raw materials for extrusion, records accurate lot information, and follows company rules on documentation.
• Daily teamwork and collaboration with other departments are expected.
• Daily housekeeping and logging of Cleanroom activities is a required task.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Passing grade on basic math and English comprehension test is required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Effective communication skills, including speaking effectively to fellow employees and taking written notes and filling out run sheet information in an organized, legible fashion.
