About the role
TM Signs & Graphics is a locally owned, independent sign shop in Bakersfield seeking an experienced Sign Designer/Maker to join our small, tight-knit team. This is a fast-paced, hands-on production role for someone who thrives under real responsibility and takes ownership of their work.
Responsibilities
- Develop sign designs to meet client goals using Adobe Illustrator (and learn/use other software platforms as needed)
- Produce signs using raw materials — vinyl, laminate, metal, and acrylic substrates
- Print, laminate, cut vinyl on the plotter, mask/weed, and apply graphics
- Perform quality control (check spelling, color, size, and proof match)
- Install simple signs: door graphics, vehicle wraps, wall/fence mounts, etc.
- Keep the production area clean and organized (trash, sweep, proper tool storage)
- Track project records accurately (electronic and paper)
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to daily production meetings
Requirements
- 3 years of hands-on sign production experience (not primarily graphic design)
- Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator (or very similar vector software)
- Proven self-starter who works independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent work ethic, reliability, and conscientious attention to detail
- Positive team player who is easy to work with, respectful, and maintains a great attitude every day
- Organized, clean, and takes ownership of your workspace
- Strong communication skills and a strong sense of urgency
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
- Strong professional references (will be checked)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of color management (nice-to-have)
- 3M or Avery Certified Installer (nice-to-have)

Pay
$18.00 – $25.00 per hour (commensurate with experience). Pay is reviewed after 90 days.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week.
