About the Role
As a Shuttle Driver, you will play a vital role in the operation of our business by transporting empty trailers to the Operating Company warehouse locations and then delivering full trailers to domicile/shuttle yard locations. You will drive a tandem trailer, tractor trailer, and/or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring safe and timely transport in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, functioning as a team member to support America’s food distribution system.
Responsibilities
- Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report all safety hazards.
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
- Ensure all required route paperwork is with the tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch.
- Drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule.
- Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
- Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas.
- Ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times.
- Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer; complete necessary paperwork.
- Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- 12 months of commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass pre-employment drug test and road test.
- Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure a new one.
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (60–90 pounds) throughout shift.
Schedule
Work required 3rd shift schedule: Sunday – Thursday nights, 6:00 PM start. Schedules may vary.
New Hire Training
Mandatory 2-week training program located in Clanton, Alabama upon hire. Travel and logistics to be discussed during the interview.
Pay
$60,000 – $70,000 per year.
