Shuttle Driver

About the Role

This position requires a good sense of fun and a desire to entertain, along with excellent driving skills to operate a tour bus on busy public streets. Tour Conductors bring to life the history of America and all the positive things it represents.

Responsibilities

• Drive a tour bus (approximately 26 feet in length) safely and competently on busy public streets multiple times per shift.
• Interact with the general public and diverse team members in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Handle stressful situations and difficult people both in person and via radio while maintaining professionalism.
• Maintain radio contact with dispatch during tours.
• Perform daily interior and exterior vehicle inspections and accurately complete required documentation.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently for long periods while adhering to established rules and satisfying guest needs.
• Ability to remain calm and pleasant when dealing with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous individuals.
• Mental resilience to handle job-related stress as described.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking clear English to communicate with coworkers, the public, law enforcement, and emergency personnel, and to complete paperwork correctly.
• Ability to learn new duties, policies, and procedures and adapt to new situations within a reasonable timeframe.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid South Carolina Class C or higher CDL with Passenger Endorsement.
• Acceptable driving record for the past three years.
• Must pass pre-employment MVR, background check, and substance abuse testing.
• Valid DOT physical required.
• Passion for entertaining people and creating memorable experiences in Charleston.
