Shredder Supervisor - 2nd Shift

About the role

Nucor’s River Metals Recycling division in Cincinnati, OH seeks a Second Shift Shredder Supervisor to lead second-shift operations of the shredding department. This hands-on leadership role oversees the shredder, downstream processing equipment, mobile equipment, and material handling systems while managing a team of operators and maintenance personnel. The position coordinates with day-shift leadership, facility management, and maintenance teams on parts ordering, scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership in plant safety and operations.
• Develop and maintain positive customer relationships.
• Establish and manage production work schedules.
• Hire, train, develop, and coach staff.
• Model and enforce all safety and environmental policies and practices.
• Support long-range planning and budgeting with management.
• Conduct monthly inventory.
• Take a hands-on approach to working alongside team members.
• Shift hours: 4:00 pm – 2:00 am.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering or related field, or a minimum of 3 years management experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Operations or manufacturing experience with heavy equipment.
• Scrap metal processing experience.
• Maintenance experience with mechanical and electrical equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Inventory management, shipping, and receiving using lean manufacturing principles.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of customers and internal contacts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with personal computers, software, spreadsheets, and databases (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize work; adapt to changing environments; organized approach to tasks.
• Knowledge and experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance and engineering fundamentals.
• Experience developing effective preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
