Show Systems Technician

SUMARY OF OVERALL PURPOSE The Show Systems Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Village’s show systems to ensure consistent, high-quality guest experience, playing a key role in sustaining and improving the 'Quality Show' standard throughout the Village. This role works as part of the Engineering team and focuses on the reliability, performance, and ongoing improvement of audio, lighting, control, and show-related technology systems across the property. The Show Systems Technician partners closely with Information Technology, and Entertainment teams to ensure show readiness for daily operations, quickly diagnose and resolve issues, and support enhancements to existing experiences. This role contributes to both preventative maintenance and project-based work, including new system installations, upgrades, and integration of show technologies. Success in this role requires hands-on technical capability, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work across disciplines to balance operational reliability with creative intent. Key Accountabilities Show Readiness, Preventative Maintenance and Documentation Ensure daily show readiness of audio, lighting, control, and show systems across the Village to maintain consistent 'Quality Show' standards. Maintain and regularly inspect systems to proactively identify risks to reliability or guest experience. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance including firmware updates, system tuning, cleaning, and calibration. Create and maintain as-built documentation, including system diagrams, signal flow, network configurations, and equipment inventories. Develop and maintain operational SOPs including startup/shutdown procedures and troubleshooting guides. Coordinate with Engineering, IT, and Entertainment teams.Utilize the Ticket Management system, Nuvola, to complete daily assignments and ensure all work is properly documented. Troubleshooting and Repair Diagnose and resolve issues across show systems including audio, lighting, playback, and control systems.Utilize structured troubleshooting methods and tools to isolate root causes. Perform repairs in accordance with standards and restore functionality quickly. Document thoroughly all issues and findings, as well as resolutions, actions taken, and repairs performed.Maintain accurate records throughout the troubleshooting and repair process. Projects and System Enhancements Support installation, configuration, and commissioning of new show systems and upgrades. Partner cross-functionally to improve reliability and guest experience.Participate in planning, testing, and implementation of enhancements. All Other Duties As Assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS OUTSIDE NORMAL WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and extended hours, as required by department needs.Ability to lift 45 lbs. without assistance. Comfortable working in small, confined spaces that may be poorly lit or lack air conditioning. Ability to repetitively reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stoopingWillingness to work in various outdoor weather conditions. Qualifications SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Troubleshooting of technical systems involving audio, lighting, and control.Foundational understanding of audio systems (amplifiers, speakers, microphones, signal flow, cabling)Foundational understanding of show control systems (inputs, outputs, control logic, triggers, events, timelines, and device interactions).Basic networking knowledge including diagnostics.Tools proficiency including multimeter.Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to learn quickly.Ability to use web and AI tools (Copilot, etc.) for troubleshooting.Must be able to speak, read and write English to successfully communicate with families, guests, volunteers and staff.Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.Ability to operate motorized vehicles, including battery operated carts.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.Must meet acceptable attendance and punctuality requirements, which are essential functions for the position. High School Diploma with a technical, trade, or vocational school degree.At least 5 years of experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing show systems (may include collegiate, intern, similar experience) Preferred Requirements Q-SYS Level 1 Certification or ability to obtainExperience with Q-SYS, Alcorn McBride, and lighting (DMX) systems.Experience with low-voltage systems and AV integration.Experience with programming or scripting control systems including inputs, outputs and logic.Experience in guest-facing or theme parks environments
