About the Role
This position is responsible for testing OTC and cosmetic bulk, finished products, and stability products in compliance with Quality Control Specifications and regulatory agency requirements.
Responsibilities
- Promote a safe working environment and adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures, company safety rules, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Perform analytical tests on bulk, finished products, stability samples, raw materials, and other contract-manufactured materials in compliance with GMP and as directed by QC Specifications.
- Conduct a variety of analytical methods using HPLC, GC, ICP, FTIR, UV/Vis, and wet chemistries following USP or customer-specified methods.
- Participate in method validation and method transfer as needed.
- Perform calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Conduct laboratory work and associated record-keeping in a safe manner, adhering to GLP, GMP, and company & customer SOPs.
- Follow internal and customer specifications.
- Participate in Out-of-Specification (OOS) investigations and troubleshoot problems presented in test results.
- Responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instruments, and clearly communicate problems with the Lead Sr. Chemist and Lab Director.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Quality Control, preferably in an analytical field.
- Full knowledge of working with and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation.
- Ability to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area in conformance with GLP, cGMP, and SOPs.
- Good time-management skills.
- Strong English communication skills: speaking, reading, and writing.
- Advanced PC knowledge, including MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) preferred.
- Flexibility to work long hours during peak seasons or special schedules as needed.
- Ability to multi-task and follow through on project assignments.
- Capable of quickly remedying procedural problems.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Capable of making suggestions for improvements and collaborating with management.
Physical Requirements
- Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Capable of standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Laboratory environment.
- Noise level is low to moderate.
- Proper lighting and ventilation.
