Short-Form Video Editor, News/Information (Digital Media / Video Production)

About the Role

A short-form digital news brand with over 19 million followers on TikTok and more than 1 million YouTube subscribers is looking for an experienced video editor to join its team. The brand delivers daily global news content built around fast, engaging coverage of major stories, along with a growing slate of longer-form documentary and travel content.

The editor will receive scripts and supporting visual references for each video but is expected to source and package additional content that accurately shapes each piece. The work involves transforming raw material into polished, engaging short-form videos through strong pacing, compelling visual hooks, relevant cultural context, and visuals that support the story. Workload varies with the news cycle, with quieter stretches during slower weeks and high-volume periods requiring rapid output.

Responsibilities

• Editing 2 to 3 short-form videos daily with fast turnaround times (hours, not days)
• Sourcing accurate, fact-checked visuals to support each story at editorial standards required for news content
• Developing provided scripts and reference material into finished edits, incorporating cultural and trend references where appropriate
• Maintaining consistent output during high-volume news periods
• Editing mini documentary-style short-form pieces as needed
• Operating with flexibility for breaking news coverage

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating short-form editing experience specifically within the news/information space
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality edits under tight deadlines
• Strong editorial instincts, including pacing, hooks, and audience retention techniques
• Sound judgment in sourcing accurate, fact-checked visual material
• Ability to work independently in a remote, variable-pace environment
• Comfortable with daily quick-turnaround assignments and high-volume production periods
