Shop Technician
Duties And Responsibilities
- Repair all types of equipment that the company sells and services.
- Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
- Train other employees as needed.
- Maintain a profitable billing level.
- Follow all Shop Service Department procedures.
- Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
- Communicate all options to the Shop Supervisor before proceeding with work.
- Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
- Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Represent the entire company at all times.
- Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification if applicable.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance company, if applicable.
- Report all accidents whether self or customer.
- Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
- Willing to work overtime when necessary.
- Must follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook.
- Must follow safety procedures and use good judgment regarding safety.
- Must be willing to work out of town, as necessary.
- Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Shop Service Foreman or Managers.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees, Co-workers, and Managers in other departments.
- Willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required.
- Able to always exhibit professional behavior.
- Willing to follow mandates and procedures of the Shop Service Department.
- Self-starter.
- As needed, able to deal with customers on a face-to-face basis.
- Maintain a sound working relationship with technicians and fellow workers.
- Possess good organizational skills.
- Maintain a sound working knowledge of basic D.C. electricity, basic A.C. electricity, SCR, transistor, microprocessor, simple guide, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
- Maintain a sound working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Sound mechanical abilities.
- Able to organize efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
- Able to work in conjunction with other departments as needed.
- Willing and able to learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with a degree of flexibility.
- Motivated to continuous self-development and training.
- Willing to assume more responsibility as required.
Education/Experience
High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent is required. 2 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Position is non-sedentary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Position will be required to go onto job sites to perform duties where construction is underway.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The position will require employees to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to smell.
The position requires the employee to climb/balance/stoop/kneel/crawl and crawl. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and the risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
Pay Range
The hourly range for this position is $21.40 - $47.15. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location.
