Shop Porter

Position Summary

Brewster Companies Inc. is a family-owned and operated company specializing in heavy civil and transportation construction. We are seeking employees with a strong work ethic and great personalities to join our team.

Job Duties

• Deliver and pick up parts, materials, tools, and supplies from vendors, jobsites, and company facilities.
• Transport small equipment to and from job sites as needed.
• Cook with mechanics, superintendents, and project teams regarding delivery needs and schedules.
• Assist with loading, unloading, securing, and staging equipment and materials.
• Verify that delivered equipment and materials are complete and in good condition.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, receipts, and documentation as required.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns.
• Assist mechanics and shop personnel with general shop duties and support tasks.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop, yard, and storage areas.
• Assist with equipment washing, fueling, and basic inspections.
• Support equipment mobilization and demobilization efforts.
• Perform routine building and grounds maintenance tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to safely operate pickup trucks, trailers, and small equipment.
• Basic knowledge of construction equipment and tools preferred.
• Ability to read and follow directions, maps, and delivery schedules.
• Basic understanding of PPE and construction site safety requirements.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely enter and exit vehicles and equipment throughout the workday.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as needed.
