Position Overview
As a Shop Operator at Structural Technologies, you will play a vital role in the manufacturing and fabrication process of essential construction components. This multi-faceted position will require your expertise in handling various tasks, such as working on shear rails, stud welding, and operating a cutting line. Your attention to detail, technical abilities, and commitment to safety will contribute significantly to the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate shear rails, ensuring precise cutting and shaping of steel components according to engineering specifications.
- Perform stud welding to secure studs and other fasteners to steel structures accurately.
- Operate and maintain the cutting line, ensuring efficient and precise cutting of steel materials for use in construction projects.
- Safely handle and maneuver steel materials during the fabrication process, adhering to best practices and safety guidelines.
- Conduct quality checks on fabricated components to ensure they meet the required standards and project specifications.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize tasks, meet production schedules, and maintain efficient workflows in the shop.
- Absorb and organize material handling, including receiving, storing, and organizing steel materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for manufacturing activities.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on shop equipment to ensure optimal functionality and report any issues to supervisors.
- Comply with all safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and promote a culture of safety in the shop.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Shop Operator, preferably in a steel fabrication or construction-related field.
- Proficiency in operating shear rails, stud welding equipment, and cutting lines.
- Strong technical skills in handling steel materials and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and attention to detail in checking fabricated components.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and work in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
- Safety-conscious mindset and adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical training or certifications in steel fabrication or related fields.
- Experience working with specialized tools and equipment in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of inventory management and material handling practices.
