About the Role
Under limited supervision, performs work requiring extensive automotive, hydraulic system, and mechanical knowledge in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and construction equipment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses, rebuilds, and repairs vehicles and equipment, including utility construction equipment such as digger derricks, man-lifts, truck-mounted cranes, directional drills, bulldozers, and trailers.
- Requisitions new and/or replacement parts and equipment.
- Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Prepares and maintains records and reports.
- Sets up new equipment and vehicles.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees and outside agencies.
- Safely drives various vehicles and/or transports equipment; performs inspections on vehicles before and after trips.
- Obtains all necessary moving permits, licenses, titles, safety checks, etc., as required by corporate policy, state or federal regulations, or client requirements.
- Must have own tools and experience with power tools and hand tools.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience and/or training in maintenance and repair of trucks and/or heavy equipment.
- Education in diesel technology or related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL and DOT medical card.
- Must have a safe driving record and a valid driver’s license accordingli>
- Experience with power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience with operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Familiar with mechanical design and fabrication.
- Subject to the Company’s DOT Substance Abuse Testing Program.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Welding experience.
- Experience with electrical systems.
- Hydraulic experience.
Skills
- Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
- Familiar with mechanical design and fabrication.
- Experience with electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
- Skills in the use of power and hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and experience with the operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Schedule
10-hour shifts Monday – Thursday and 8-hour Friday, with the occasional weekend.
