About the role
We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of trucks and construction equipment. Repair and diagnostic work will generally be larger or more complex jobs that cannot be efficiently completed in the field. In addition, it will ensure the on-site fleet is always maintained in a ready condition. The Ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and work independently.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and trailers, including but not limited to Freightliner, Kenworth, International, Ford, and Ram
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of construction equipment, including but not limited to Cat, Volvo, Takeuchi, and Vermeer
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues (engine, drivetrain, brakes, steering, hydraulics, cooling, emissions / aftertreatment)
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, cylinders, pumps, valves, and hoses
- Complete and properly document DOT and other required inspections
- Weld/fabricate as needed (cutting, grinding, basic fabrication) to support repairs
- Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and work orders
- Identify, locate, and place orders for needed parts following the company's purchasing guidelines
- Follow company safety procedures and keep a clean, organized work area
- Experience working on heavy-duty trucks and/or construction equipment
- Strong troubleshooting skills across diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Experience with aftertreatment systems (DPF/SCR/DEF) and regeneration/diagnostics
- Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics
- Proficiency with common shop tools and diagnostic equipment
- Valid driver’s license and have, or be able to obtain a DOT medical card, CDL
- Typically, 40 hours a week during normal business hours
- Periodic overtime opportunities
- Occasional night/weekend availability
