Shop Manager

About the role

The Shop Manager is primarily responsible for the daily operations of the Howard Remanufacturing Shop and ensuring its overall quality. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Remanufacturing / R&D.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all the daily operations of the facility.
• Review budgets and financial reports to ensure that P&Ls are met.
• Oversee and support needs to Logistics, Procurement, Estimating and Inventory.
• Schedule and manage the workflow in the shop.
• Ensure quality and safety are a top priority.
• Create a lean and efficient workflow in the shop.
• Implement health and safety policies and procedures.
• Work with Recruiting and HR on hiring and employee issues / concerns.
• Initiate monthly one‑on‑one meetings with employees.
• Work with QC to ensure all processes and procedures are followed; help develop them if needed.
• Prepare reports for senior management.
• Participate in the development of long‑term goals for the shop.
• Work with QC on any warranty issues.
• Work closely with engineering to meet customer demands.
• Ensure all technicians are up to date with safety and technical training.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Hold daily / weekly meetings to ensure continuity among all business segments.
• Provide hands‑on leadership while developing the team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of wind energy or related experience preferred.
• Ability to build and maintain working relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to utilize knowledge and experience to make key decisions in the best interest of the customer and the company.
• Competent using Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong initiative and drive for high achievement and continuous improvement.
• Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk while working on a computer; occasionally lifting weights of fifty (50) pounds or less; potentially 30% travel required. The position operates in both office and field environments and requires adherence to all safety requirements.
