Shop Machine Press Operator

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a 500-ton press to produce metal components according to specifications.
• Study blueprints, layouts, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements.
• Loading and unloading materials, including metal plates or components, into the press.
• Perform routine machine adjustments to maintain product quality.
• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure specifications are met.
• Document production results and conduct quality checks.
• Troubleshoot basic machine issues and escalate complex problems as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Maintain accurate production records and other relevant documentation.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment.
• Follow all safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and company policies.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
• Perform other duties and activities as required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Previous experience operating press machines or similar industrial equipment is required.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments is necessary.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality are key.
