Position Summary
Rocket Supply is a leading manufacturer of LPG delivery trucks, serving the Midwest for over 65 years. We are currently seeking a Shop Laborer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a passion for precision work.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within production schedules to meet company needs.
- Assist in the assembly and fabrication of propane trucks according to blueprints and specifications.
- Ensure all work is conducted safely and in compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organize the shop area to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
- Load and unload materials and equipment using forklifts and other machinery.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and adhere to production schedules.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards before delivery.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to propane truck building and safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of Rocket Supply.
- Adaptability in cross-training across various disciplines.
Experience/Education
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in automotive or heavy equipment assembly.
- Basic Knowledge: Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in fabrication and assembly work.
- Reading and Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Forklift Certification: Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Willingness to Adhere to Safety Guidelines: Willingness to adhere to safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment as required.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Vocational training or certification in welding, fabrication, or a related field (preferred).
- Quality verbal communication abilities in a team-based environment.
Additional Requirements
- Experience working with propane systems or familiarity with propane industry regulations.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience operating machinery such as plasma cutters, brake presses, and saws.
Physical/Working Requirements
- Sustain prolonged standing and walking around the shop area.
- Able to position, transport, lift, and/or move up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Communicate fluently in English to exchange information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Able to move about in a workshop environment.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is often elevated due to machine operations.
