About the role

The role of a Shop Helper involves assisting in day-to-day operations, maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the shop floor, along with organizing inventory and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operations of the shop
• Clean and organize work areas, tool room, and equipment
• Unload and load supplies and materials as needed
• Assist in the assembly and disassembly of equipment and machinery
• Perform basic maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery
• Assist in inventory management and stock replenishment
• Provide support to other staff members as needed
• Comply with all safety regulations and procedures
• Fill in for parts runner as needed
• Assist in other departments as needed
• Restock merchandise and ensure a safe and well-presented retail environment

Requirements

• Ability to lift heavy objects and equipment
• Basic knowledge of tools and machinery used in a shop environment
• Good communication skills to work collaboratively with fellow shop employees
• Ability to follow directions and work independently when needed
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and overtime as required
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized work area
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and take on new tasks
• Valid Driver’s license

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to talk and hear
• Very active position requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
• Must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Schedule

• 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday
• Weekend rotation
• On call
