Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical training and coaching to apprentice technicians, including proper diagnostic, repair, safety, and documentation procedures.
- Provides supervision and real-time performance feedback to apprentices.
- Attends recruiting events on behalf of the apprentice program.
- Works closely with the Reconditioning Mechanical Supervisor to identify training needs, track progress, and address performance concerns.
- Reviews apprentice work and repair orders for quality, accuracy, completeness, and adherence to dealership standards.
- Road tests vehicles as needed to verify repair quality.
- Aids in diagnosing and repairing mechanical concerns on pre-owned vehicles.
- Maintains an organized, clean, and safe shop environment.
- Assists with coordinating repairs and communicating delays or concerns to the Reconditioning Mechanical Supervisor.
- Helps ensure repairs are assigned and completed according to technician skill level and training needs.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of automotive repair and diagnostic experience.
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair skills across a wide range of vehicle systems.
- Ability to teach and coach technicians with varying levels of experience.
- Strong understanding of automotive repair processes, shop workflow, and quality control standards.
- Ability to review repairs for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience mentoring, training, or leading technicians.
- Manufacturer or ASE certifications.
- Previous experience working in a dealership, reconditioning, or high-volume service environment.
