Shop Floor Assistant - School of Aeronautics

About the role

The occupant of this position will act as a student worker for the Aviation Maintenance Technician Department. The occupant will be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team.

Responsibilities

• Aid AMTP staff with daily maintenance shop operations.
• Assist instructors or lab technicians with student projects.
• Manage specialty tools and parts inventory.
• Assist with grading.

Qualifications and Credentials

• Must have completed the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program.
• Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Problem-solving ability.
• Physical and sensory abilities: frequent standing, handling tools, hearing, speaking, lifting up to 30 pounds.

Work Conditions

• Work Environment: Maintenance shop.
• Time Type: Part-time.
• Location: Onsite.
• Pay Rate: Starting at $12.77.
• Pay may vary based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.

Pay and Schedule

This position is a summer temporary employee and is paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour.
