About the role
Prepare and modify wood doors according to each order’s specifications. Some preparations require permanently joining metal parts using high heat application, while others involve the use of power tools such as circular saws, jig saws, drills, and sanders.
Responsibilities
- Utilize measuring tools to mark and prepare material
- Use saws, drills, and other power tools to create the finished product
- Remove rough edges created during modification
- Plan work by interpreting shop orders
- Package finished product for transport
- Interpret scope of work from documents detailing tasks
- Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times
- Assist Shop Manager as required
- Perform other relative duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current and valid US driver’s license preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment preferred
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test
- Must be able to lift items weighing up to 80 pounds
Skills
- General knowledge of warehouse manufacturing
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Ability to follow directions and work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy
- Ability to shift between multiple duties with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines
- Sound judgment, ability to work independently, and prioritize with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with basic hand and power tools (hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, cordless drills)
- Knowledge of proper safety practices when handling products, tools, and power equipment
- Ability to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements and use a tape measure
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Detail-oriented with strong attendance and punctuality
Physical Demands
This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required.
Work Environment
This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
