Shipping Team Member
About the role
IAF manufactures fasteners for the automotive industry. We seek hard-working individuals to join our team as Shipping Team Members. Overtime is required when mandated. All positions will train on first shift before going to the off shift. We are a 24-hour/day operation.
Responsibilities
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment
- Ensures that customer requirements are followed while preparing shipments
- Follows all safety and work policy requirements
- Supports forklift operators upon necessity
- Reads and understands a Kanban and matches parts to Kanban
- Uses calipers for measuring parts (as needed)
- Moves parts into final storage location
- Processes returned packaging
- Finalizes orders for shipments
Requirements
- Minimum of six months of related experience or a one-year certificate from a technical school (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Pass a Hazmat physical (will be performed within 2 weeks of employment)
- Okay training on 1st shift (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) then transferring to either weekend days or weekend nights
- Troubleshooting experience is preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to lift containers up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Able to stand, walk, bend, twist, and work in physically demanding environments
- Able to work with various chemicals, such as zinc, caustic, and acids
- Willing to work 12+ hour shifts, including weekends
Qualifications
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, or the public
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and work with fractions and decimals
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret bar graphs
- Solving practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret instructions in various formats, including written, oral, or diagram-based
