Job Purpose
Captures the essence of the role by leading and supervising the shipping department, ensuring quality and customer needs are met.
Essential Job Functions
- Assigns tasks, provides direction, and supports team members to achieve efficient daily operations.
- Ensures accuracy of ISO standards and work instructions, collaborating with the team to maintain compliance.
- Trains team members on cycle counting, quality inspection, inventory auditing, part identification, movement, and timely shipping.
- Collaborates with the Department Manager and Human Resources on hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, and provides coaching and corrective feedback.
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time product delivery and adherence to the daily shipping schedule.
- Oversees loading/packing of outbound containers/trucks to meet Quality standards and procedures.
- Affixes packaging to department specifications as needed.
- Provides backup support to Warehouse and Assembly Material Handling Supervisors.
- Performs timely and accurate system transactions to comply with published work instructions.
- Maintains inventory accuracy and ensures production lines stay on track.
- Troubleshoots shipping/material handling issues or discrepancies and implements process improvements.
- Promotes a safe work environment by monitoring and enforcing safety rules and regulations.
- Leverages data analytics to make strategic and tactical business decisions.
Required Qualifications and Skills Needed
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge with computer-based shipping/receiving systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within this field.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Previous experience in Oracle.
- Warehouse/Inventory control background.
Working Conditions
- May require heavy lifting of up to 35 lbs. occasionally.
- Primarily works on the production floor where certain areas can be noisy.
- Must be able to wear steel toe shoes and stand and walk for long periods at a time.
