Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Must be able to use hand held bar-coding units and know and understand all functions required in the bar-coding process.
- Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or pallets to be moved or pulled for shipment.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from tractor trailers.
- Loads pallets onto truck and inspects strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Verifies materials loaded or unloaded against work order or bill of lading.
- Covers materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
- Makes partial racks when necessary to complete shipping order.
- Organizes and randomly inspects inventory on yard.
- Operates industrial truck or electric hoist safely and accurately to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fork Lift Certification.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Safety/TOTAL HOUSEKEEPING MANAGEMENT (THM)
- Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
- Maintain their designated work spaces in a clean, safe and timely manner in compliance with the plants THM/Safety policy.
Physical Demands
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Able to talk and hear.
- Sit.
- Stand and walk.
- Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to year round weather conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Noise levels in the shipping yard are usually loud, proper personal protective equipment will be worn in given plant areas and when essential job function necessitate.
