About the role
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies from domestic or international locations. Responsibilities include packaging and shipping products according to customer requirements, receiving incoming materials, handling shipping and receiving paperwork, and coordinating pick-ups and drop-offs.
Responsibilities
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment and affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils.
- Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers, inserts items using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
- Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
- Unpacks and records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments and examines outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
- Performs receiving, stocking, and pallet consolidation.
- Processes material orders daily, including accepting deliveries and labeling packages.
- Coordinates with shippers to deliver products to customers and keeps records of all job orders shipped to vendors.
- Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
- Follows and supports all safety practices, including wearing proper PPE, following SOPs, maintaining good housekeeping, and reporting safety incidents.
- Follows cross-trained initiatives as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a shipping and receiving role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail, time organization, and urgency.
- Able to work independently and within a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of all customer shipment methods.
- Self-motivated.
Work/Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Experience operating a pallet jack.
Pay
The hourly rate for this role is $22 - $25 per hour.
