Responsibilities
- Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Prepare items for shipment according to quality/productivity standards, ensuring proper labeling and packaging.
- Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items to verify against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shippers to resolve damages and shortages.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Perform all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
- Maintain an adequate supply of shipping materials at all times.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow warehouse safety regulations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned, based on the business the warehouse supports.
Requirements
- Comfortable working autonomously.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail in task completion.
- Competent in maintaining accurate and organized records.
- Basic knowledge of computers programs for entering data.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills And Experience
- Previous experience working in a high-volume distribution, manufacturing, technical service (i.e. testing and repair) or forward logistics operation.
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Time-management skills.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands And Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Requires extended periods of standing and walking.
- Requires bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, and reaching.
