About the role

This position involves receiving, identifying, storing, and delivering a wide variety of raw materials and manufactured or purchased parts for further processing, assembly, machining, or direct shipment. The role also includes labeling, packing, and loading items for shipment according to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Record purchases, maintain databases, perform physical inventory counts, and reconcile actual stock to office records.
  • Verify clerical computations against physical stock counts and adjust errors.
  • Investigate and report reasons for inventory discrepancies.
  • Prepare reports such as inventory balance, price lists, and shortages.
  • Receive, unpack, and deliver goods; restock items as necessary and label shelves.
  • Liaise with vendors and purchasing agents, and prepare deliveries.
  • Work from shop orders, receiving reports, material requisitions, repair order lists, or verbal instructions to determine material disposition.
  • Receive, identify, issue, and store materials/parts in designated locations using appropriate identification methods.
  • Fill and distribute basic material and repair orders.
  • Label, pack, and load items for shipment according to specifications.
  • Unload incoming trucks, inspect for damage, and compare received items and quantities against freight bills.
  • Maintain records of all items received and shipped.
  • Perform cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and reconcile variances.
  • Detect defective materials, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties; document and drive corrective actions.
  • Operate materials handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or dollies to move stock or organize storage.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (U.S. only). Label and date hazardous waste drums and transfer to authorized waste vendors.
  • Recognize spills/leaks and respond according to company policy and training.
  • Assist in maintaining workflow through assigned areas and participate in training less experienced associates.
  • Assist in generating and updating standard work instructions/procedures; train others on proper procedures.
  • Actively participate in team meetings to communicate and resolve cost, quality, or production issues.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with team members.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance at the worksite, including ability to work frequent overtime and assigned shifts; this role is not remote.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • General computer experience; Microsoft Office and ERP systems experience preferred.
  • Ability to present written information clearly and legibly.
  • Ability to follow work instructions and procedures to complete tasks.
  • Ability to research and present recommendations for improvements and controls.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints (situational).
  • Ability to operate hand/fork trucks.

Physical Requirements

  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to sit at a desk or computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to move about the office and factory, involving lifting, bending, and reaching for 50-80% of the time.
  • Ability to dial, hear, and respond to telephone calls and inquiries.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (visually and verbally) with internal and external contacts.
