Shipping / Receiver (AMS)
Under direct supervision, this position performs a variety of routine warehouse duties including receiving, unloading, inventory storage, movement, and distribution of goods and materials at the assigned branch. Completes routine paperwork and documentation as required.
Responsibilities
- Processes requisitions, work orders, and shipping orders; issues material to end users using company-defined systems.
- Manually lifts and loads materials on and off trucks safely.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Transfers materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas.
- Drives company vehicle, operates hydraulic lift and forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to shop or customers, as well as pick up items from vendors.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined part-number sequence; marks material with identifying information.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items accordingly; initiates restock as necessary.
- Uses computer and inventory programs to enter records.
- Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers.
- Prepares product for domestic and international shipping using proper packing techniques to ensure safe arrival; determines best method of shipping and files freight claims.
- Participates in cycle counting and inventory processes.
- Participates in on-call rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No experience necessary; previous shipping and receiving experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of inventory control systems.
- Math aptitude necessary for inventory calculations.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
- Able to operate a variety of light equipment, hand trucks, and vehicles within a warehouse environment.
- Valid Driver’s License; must receive and maintain forklift certification.
- Good customer service skills; displays a professional can-do attitude.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Performs daily equipment inspections.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance.
- Must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles.
- Noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
