Shipping Manager

About the role

As Shipping Manager you will oversee daily shipping operations for all outgoing products to customers, manage every aspect of shipping and material transfers, verify and record shipment data, and lead the shipping team.

Responsibilities

• Schedule inbound and outbound loads and manage all shipments.
• Maximize trailer utilization and efficiently use the trailer pool to reduce costs.
• Ensure subordinates work safely and foster a collaborative safety culture that drives results.
• Prepare daily and monthly management reports to communicate critical shipping information.
• Coordinate and monitor courier rates to select the lowest rate, minimize shipping cost, and stay within budget.
• Utilize knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates to determine shipping priorities and methods for on-time delivery and exceptional customer service.
• Communicate with various levels of management and departments to ensure goals are accomplished.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of production leadership experience.
• 3+ years of logistics, industrial, or shipping experience (required).
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively.
• Focus on increasing customer satisfaction by ensuring obligations are met in a timely manner.
• Aptitude to calculate estimated costs associated with shipping and delivery functions.
• Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, use appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with managers, staff, and vendors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
