Shipping Lead Operator

About the role

Working under the general supervision of the Warehouse/Shipping Supervisor, you will perform a variety of duties to accomplish the shipment of all finished goods and the receipt of all purchased materials. You must be capable of filling in for the Supervisor during periods of absence while maintaining high quality standards. You will also assist other shipping personnel with load preparation, inventory counts, inventory status assessment, unloading raw materials, and other duties as required by the Shipping Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Set an exemplary example for Shipping Operators in safe work habits, positive attitude, and focus on company goals.
• Safely and efficiently load finished goods on trucks and pick orders within the warehouse for supplemental parts.
• Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
• Safely and efficiently receive purchased materials in the absence of the Receiving Clerk.
• Coordinate trucks with shipments, including customer pickups.
• Assist with weekly inventory cycle counts and counting of all incoming purchased parts for accuracy.
• Understand the TMS system and schedule trucks.
• Prioritize and schedule workflow within logistics, interacting with Customer Service and plant production.
• Assist with maintaining and updating weekly inventories, receiving logs, load sheets, and other related shipping and receiving documents in the absence of the Supervisor.
• Conduct inventories and provide training and assistance to Shipping Operators.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to work well with operators, shift leaders, and office personnel.
• Ability to read a tape measure, add and subtract two-digit numbers, and use a calculator.
• Ability to perform operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office; experience with SAP strongly preferred.
