As our Shipping Lead at the Atlanta, GA Plant, you’ll be responsible for driving shipping efficiency, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring products get to our customers safely, accurately, and on time. Location: Atlanta , GA Shift: 1st Shift Position Overview: Meets the company’s requirement to be able to execute extreme accuracy as a role model and provide leadership to the staff. Instruct all employees on proper procedures and performance of handling of goods. Position Responsibilities Shipping OrdersAssures policies and procedures are maintained and followed. Make sure that all shipments are double-checked for accuracy. Process paperwork for outgoing shipments, accurately and procedurally correct.Assist in loading and unloading trucks.Assist in planning and billing shipping loads.Identify best carrier solutions.Coordinate loads with carriers.Follow up with carrier to ensure loads have been delivered.Maintain and record dispatch and driving logs.Interact with customer service and production for smooth, total quality order shipments from all shipping facilities, update with changes as necessary.Review Production line-up; and schedule appointments with customers. Responsible for the accuracy and confirmation that all counts are accurate.Assure that correct orders are picked up and shipped correctly.Audit all shipment documentation.Receiving SuppliesAssist in unloading of raw materials and check all materials against the shipping receipt and the order.Receive and review purchase orders (PO’s) to verify shipping requirements, coordinate order fulfillment, and ensure timely processing.Check all counts by measurement or hand counting. Immediately notify Supervisor of any shortages or damages.Plant Organization and ConditionShare in the responsibility for plant condition, storing of goods in the appropriate locations so items can easily be retrieved when needed. Checks for neatness and cleanliness. Maintain Warehouse Inventory and Shipping SuppliesParticipate in monthly physical inventory procedures.Assures accuracy of plant inventory.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesMentor, train, and set an example to general laborers.Train all new Shipping employees by ensuring all processes and procedures are followed.Provide training and instruction for all laborers who are using lift trucks and certified in their use.Assist in implementing all safety policies and procedures for the Shipping/Warehouse areas.Ensure all employees follow established safety practices and instructions. Complete mandatory training and attending staff meetings.Supervise shipping department in absence of Shipping ManagerPerform additional duties assigned by the supervisor or other leadership. What It Takes High School Diploma or GED requiredExperience leading teams in shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing settingsStrong working knowledge of the Amtech systemAbility to bill outbound freight and manage documentationProficient in basic PC use and shipping equipment operationAbility to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. and work in varied temperature conditions (40°F to 120°F) Who We Are: Our Story Hood Container Corporation is a family-owned, mill to a market company specializing in containerboard and kraft paper, corrugated boxes, high graphic displays, and contract packaging.
