Shipping Floater

About the Role

The Floater will perform duties in the Shipping Department at our RectorSeal Houston, TX facility. This is an on-site hourly position requiring a daily presence.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all daily operations, including processing (packing and shipping) orders accurately (Parcel, LTL, TL).
• Inspect product for damages and report as needed.
• Follow all safety protocols and warehouse procedures.
• Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment.
• Perform equipment maintenance and upkeep, including routine cleaning duties.
• Interface with management to ensure key objectives are realized.
• Listen and follow instructions from supervisor.
• Pick customer orders accurately according to the Picking Procedure.
• Operate shrink-wrap machine to package finished products and perform minor adjustments for different products.
• Apply appropriate shipping labels to wrapped pallets.
• Inspect and remove visibly damaged products.
• Use hand scanner for Pack confirm (dimensioner) process.
• Transport finished pallets to the proper dock location.
• Notify supervisor or appropriate staff when supplies need to be ordered.
• Load trailers and containers as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma (or equivalent).
• 3+ years’ experience in picking and fulfilling orders.
• 3+ years’ experience operating a Reach Truck.
• 3+ years’ experience operating an Electric Pallet Jack.
• Physical stamina and dexterity necessary for work; must be able to lift or move at least 50 lbs. unassisted and stand for prolonged periods.
• Experience in a warehouse setting.

Skills

• Attention to detail.
• Experience using hand-held scanners.
• Able to work independently and safely.
• Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English (Spanish a plus but not required).
• Basic arithmetic skills involving addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
• Computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in JDE and DSI.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a warehouse environment. The role requires:

• Regular sitting, standing, walking, and talking or hearing.
• Occasional use of hands and fingers for typing or dialing, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Reaching with hands and arms.
• Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
• Computer use.
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
