About the role
A Box Truck Driver operates a commercial vehicle (typically under 26,000 lbs, often non-CDL) to transport goods, ensuring safe, timely, local or regional deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading cargo
- Securing items to prevent damage
- Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Maintaining logs
- Providing professional customer service
- Safely transporting, picking up, and delivering goods according to scheduled routes
- Using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual labor to load and unload cargo
- Performing daily inspections (fluids, tires, brakes) and reporting mechanical issues
- Keeping accurate logs, obtaining customer signatures, and recording delivery information
- Adhering to all traffic laws and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Previous experience driving box trucks or delivery vehicles
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy, sometimes bulky, items
- Ability to adhere to strict delivery schedules
- Effective communication skills for coordination with dispatchers and customers
