Duties/Responsibilities
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
- Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Pull orders from generated reports.
- Affix shipping labels on packed orders/shipments.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Operate forklift truck or use hand truck/pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments.
- May receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Current forklift certification issued within the last 3 years when operating a forklift.
- Minimal 1 year experience operating as a Shipping Clerk.
- Read and comprehend work orders in English.
- Work in a non-climate-controlled building which may be quite cold in the winter and close to 100 degrees in the summer.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Neatness and organizational skills are required.
- Able to operate a manual pallet jack.
- PC skills to use FedEx, UPS, StarShip Software, VShip Software and print labels.
- Experience with using Great Plains software is preferred, and if not known, must be able to train and be using the software efficiently within 3 months of hire date.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
