DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Support the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.
- Affirm that shipping counts match picking documents and assist with resolving any discrepancies.
- Affirm that labels and tickets have been applied correctly before shipping.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure they meet specifications.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Affirm that receiving counts match purchase orders and packing slip documents and assist in resolving any discrepancies.
- Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Weigh out ingredients.
- Sample ingredients and take them to the lab for appropriate testing.
- Assist with stocking shelves.
- Load trucks safely and efficiently.
- Affirm the maintenance of segregation of ingredients.
- Affirm the accuracy of all receiving documents and gather and match forms (PO, packing slip, computer printout) relative to receiving activities.
- Maintain the condition of grains and ingredients (FIFO).
- Report needed repairs.
- Report safety hazards.
- Provide high-level service to Alphia/Veracity customers.
- Be available to help in all other companies when asked upon by your department manager.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required and is an essential function of the position.
- All other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High school diploma/GED required.
- Experience: One-year prior experience working in shipping, receiving, and packaging is requested, but not required. Prior forklift experience desired.
- Ability to successfully obtain a forklift certification through LANI required.
- Must have a good working knowledge of inventory control systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software.
- Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
- Basic math skills including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to multi-task.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, walk, and move from place to place.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, use foot/feet to operate machine, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or reach above shoulders.
- The employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle or touch.
- The employee must exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The employee may be frequently exposed to allergens and/or airborne particles in the production area.
- Production employees are exposed to temperatures ranging from 50 to 115 degrees, depending on the season and workstation, and may be working near moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions may occur.
- The noise level in the work environment may be loud while production equipment is running.
- Personal Protection Equipment (including, but not limited to, boots, gloves, safety glasses, and/or face shields) is required during various processes in the production area.
