Shipping Associate

Responsibilities

• Follows established operational procedures for activities such as:
  • Verification of incoming shipments with high attention to detail
  • Ensures accuracy of raw materials and finished goods inventories at all times
  • Stages materials in support of operations in an organized and efficient manner
  • Verifies accuracy of outbound shipments to customers and intra-plant transfers
  • Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed
  • Covers materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color or product code
  • Fills requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools or other stock items and distributes items to production floor
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department
  • Marks materials with identifying information, opens bales, crates and other containers
  • Records amount so materials or items received or distributed
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Uses computer workstations to enter records, compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications
  • Drives lift truck to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment
• Responsible for efficient maintenance of all inventory records
• Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least one year of experience working in shipping or receiving in either a logistics or manufacturing type environment is preferred
• Experience in the printing or packaging industry is a huge plus!
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization
