Shipping and yard Laborers

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Captures and schedules all outbound loads and collaborates with sales and production.
• Determines the correct loading sequence and positioning of products.
• Verifies shipping documents and addresses any discrepancies.
• Sets up all loads for shipping through common carriers with external freight companies.
• Affirms that deliveries are timely and prepared for transport.
• Supports in organizing and moving materials within the job yards.
• Maintains accurate documentation and records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Assists in preparing material for loading and unloading from trucks or carts.
• Prepares various reports and correspondence as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving or related fields.
• Working knowledge of standard DOT concepts, regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of proper loading techniques, weight limitations, and company procedures.
• Basic knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of lumber math, lumber grades, and species.
• Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process.
• Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
