About the role
This position plays a crucial role in contributing to the growth of the company by championing a servant leadership philosophy, focusing on empowering, developing, and supporting your team to achieve operational excellence. The Shipping and Warehouse Supervisor will directly oversee all daily warehouse workflows, ensuring seamless execution across receiving, inventory control, and shipping processes. Assist in developing and implementing receiving, inventory, dispatching, and shipping procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and training in all activities within the assigned departments by setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback.
- Monitor the flow of product through the warehouse and make manpower adjustments when necessary.
- Research warehouse and shipping errors utilizing Root Cause Analysis to promote continuous improvement.
- Respond with a sense of urgency to any request or issue and provide information and/or resolution in a timely manner.
- Assist with maintaining accuracy and ensuring adherence to work instructions.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas using 5S principles.
- Support and motivate departmental employees to achieve established warehouse and shipping metrics with a high level of confidence and success.
- Responsible for the review and disposition of identified non-conforming material and unidentified material, based on defined workmanship standards, guidelines, and direction provided by manufacturers or management.
- Participate in and, at times, lead meetings with team members and fellow coworkers.
- Assist with identifying safety needs and ensure safety policies are followed across the team.
- FOD Prevention Focal team member for the South Bend facility.
- Ability to complete tasks in an expedient and orderly manner while attaining the quality standards set forth by PEI-Genesis and ISO 9001/AS9100.
- Experience with hiring, supervising, and training associates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. High School Diploma or GED or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- BS Degree in Business/Business Management preferred and/or any combination of education with equivalent years of experience.
- Forklift experience.
- Previous success in supervising a multi-functional staff.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a self-starter and have a high level of accountability.
- Upbeat and energized to complete tasks with a positive attitude.
- Must work well under pressure and have a strong attention to detail.
- Must be willing to learn and practice all safety procedures as safety is our highest value.
- Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills.
Physical Demands / Environmental Factors
- Manual lifting up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 70 lbs. on occasion (with assistance).
- Repetitive detailed work with hands for 8+ hours of the day.
- Ability to sit or stand for up to 8+ hours.
- Be able to reach overhead with or without the aid of a ladder or step stool.
- Ability to grip/grasp at least 8 hours of the day.
Work environment is climate-controlled, well-lit, with chairs and/or mats at work stations.
