About the role
The shipping and receiving specialist verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing duties to quality and productivity standards.
Responsibilities
- Close manufacturing orders in system ensuring materials are issued.
- Close sales orders in system.
- Package all shipments according to customers, industry, and company guidelines.
- Prepare all necessary documentation (e.g., air bills, shipping labels).
- Familiar with FedEx and UPS shipping forms and requirements.
- Prepare daily shipping log and distribute as required.
- Arrange for freight carrier pick-ups, as necessary.
- Maintain all controlled documents as necessary.
- Ensure proper documentation accompanies incoming receipts.
- Obtain OSHA forklift driver certification.
- Induct customer material and generate shop work orders.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department manager.
- Support production as needed and determined by operations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and moving throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Past shipping/receiving experience in a relatable industry.
- Must frequently lift and/or move items over 30 pounds.
