About the role

The role involves assisting the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator with various tasks including managing the storeroom, handling shipping and receiving, and managing the campus mailroom.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain storeroom supply inventory.
  • Order storeroom supplies as needed.
  • Process and deliver orders.
  • Prepare and maintain records of campus storeroom supply withdrawals.
  • Provide accounting documentation (packing slips) and record keeping to Business office.
  • Receive, record, and inspect all incoming shipments.
  • Distribute received goods campus wide and to extension centers.
  • Maintain the College’s capital asset inventory system.
  • Maintain College Parcel Locker delivery system.
  • Prepare all materials for United Parcel Service and common carriers daily shipping; maintain records for same.
  • Affix to campus mailroom operations; assure appropriate processing of all incoming and outgoing mail, pick-ups, and deliveries.
  • Familiar with current postal regulations and rates, bulk mailing requirements etc.
  • Pick up and deliver U.S. mail at post office as required.
  • Sort and deliver all incoming U.S. Mail and all intra-school mail once a day including student mail and packages.
  • Load Smart lockers accordingly.
  • Sort, weigh, meter, and bundle first class presort flats, media, and package book and library rates.
  • Process bulk mailings as needed.
  • Transport deposits to the bank routinely, occasionally picks up change orders.
  • In the absence of the coordinator, trained and certified in using the forklift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of related experience.
  • The ability to become proficient in the operation of postage machine.
  • The ability to successfully complete forklift certification.
  • Valid State of Michigan driver license.

Qualifications

  • The ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
